CBS has yet to confirm or deny the series, and details remain thin on the exact format, though TMZ indicates that it will be similar to Survivor. Deadline also reports that Survivor animator and showrunner Jeff Prost is potentially on board the series as an executive producer.
There has been talk of a celebrity version of Survivor in the past, but it never materialized. In 2016, Probst spoke to Weekly entertainment on Celebrity Survivor’s potential and how they could possibly make it work.
“I think the only way celebrity survivor works if for some reason there was an event…. – a perk or something where enough celebrities have said, “Okay, I’ll give you six days.” And we will do six episodes. We will vote for someone every night. I think we could do it,” the Emmy-winning host explained.
While Survivor has yet to do an outright celebrity edit, various famous faces have competed on the regular version of the show, including facts of life alum Lisa WhelchelNFL coach Jimmy Johnson, former WWE wrestler John Morrison and late NBA star Cliff Robinson.
