Forget cooking, dating, or renovating — balloon art seems like the next reality TV phenom.
Seven has announced that it is producing a new reality format called Blow Up, billed as a “one of a kind” competition that challenges contestants to create inflatable works of art in a bid to be crowned the tallest. balloon artist from Australia.
It will be hosted by Australian veteran Stephen Curry and comedian Becky Lucas, alongside balloon expert Chris Adamo and a host of celebrity guest judges.
Scheduled to begin filming in Melbourne next month, the series will put contestants through a series of challenges to transform ordinary balloons into oversized inflatable works of art.
Billed as “Lego but with balloons”, Curry said the show will leave viewers holding their breath with excitement.
“Blow Up is a celebration of art, skill, design and unbridled imagination,” he said.
“I’m so excited to embark on this crazy adventure with Becky and these exceptionally talented artists, which is sure to remind me once again of my obvious lack of discernible skills.
“Rest assured, these are not balloon animals and pirate swords; this is a high quality, large scale balloon sculpture. These artists are the thoroughbreds of inflatable art.
Blow Up will air on Seven in 2023.
