Dan Levy – the Canadian actor best known for his role as David Rose on the hit TV series “Schitt’s Creek” – is now about to pass Canadian bacon (and any bacon you * heart *) to the higher level.
Levy is launching a brunch cooking competition show on HBO Max called “The Big Brunch” in 2022, and it has all the feel-good vibes of the Great British Bake Off. Looks like David finally figured out how to ‘stir in the cheese’.
Here is what we know.
If you’re a fan of cooking contest shows featuring already well-regarded cooks trying to raise their national profile, this isn’t quite it. Levy’s goal with this new show (which has been created and will be hosted by Levy) is to highlight unsung and under-represented cooks across the United States at local restaurants. Those who don’t need to have their skills validated, but rather to benefit from a long-awaited platform.
Levy made a statement to Variety, stating, “Everyone has a friend, family member or coworker who is extraordinary at what they do, they just need a boost in their talents. can be enjoyed on a larger scale. Through an almost obsessive love of food, I have been fortunate enough to meet many of these people in the culinary world – friends working in cafes or food trucks, revolutionizing the menus of local restaurants – those special humans who create communities around their cuisine, hoping to take their skills to the next level.
I created this show for them, the local culinary heroes of America who deserve a spotlight, âcontinued Levy. “That, and who doesn’t want to watch the maple syrup slowly pour over a golden pile of creme brulee-inspired French toast?” “
So on that basis, the focus will be on the cooks and the brunch (yes, please!), And not on the drama made between contestants. Yes, there will undoubtedly be some of the usual entertainment value added to keep viewers watching, and Levy mentions that the winner will receive a “life-changing prize” at the end. But his heart seems to be only with the culinary underdogs.
For our part, we are really excited about the brunch recipe and the cooking sequences that will undoubtedly make us press our faces against the screen with pleasure.
While waiting for the main course of 2022, auditions for âThe Big Brunchâ are currently open to US residents over the age of 21. Another plus is that no specific culinary experience is required to audition.
So if you know of any local legends or beginner cooking prodigies, send the app as they like so they can show the world what they work with.
