“I’ve never done a reality show before and I’m so excited” – Lillian Dube on 7 Colors

Lillian Dube and Moshe Ndiki are judges on HoneyTV’s new cooking show 7 Colors.

She is easily one of the most recognizable faces in South Africa. From her time as sister Bettina on Soul City to Skwizas, Genations and the comedy Moja Love Emzini Wabadala, she has been working most of her life.

But even for her, there is always something new to try.

Lillian Dube is doing her first reality show and she’s loving it.

Taking inspiration from unique South African Sunday meals, veteran actress Lilian Dube (76) will go to the heart of homes to judge families and friends as they flex their cooking skills to execute a plate full of seven colors , the best way they know how.

Speaking to Drum, she shares that it is God’s favor.

“I’ve never done reality TV before and I’m so excited,” she says. The reality show is called 7 Colors.

“I always play and when I play I play other people, but here people will see the real me, and they will see that I am just an ordinary person like any of them,” says -she.

Lilian hosts the cooking show alongside comedian, actor and TV presenter Moshe Ndiki.

“When they told me I was going to work with Moshe, I didn’t know who he was because I’m always busy and never have time to watch TV. What a delightful person. He’s a such a pleasure to work with him,” says Mama Lilian. .

She shares that her favorite part of being on set is Moshe. “We work very well together.”

Moshe shares the same sentiments. Speaking to Drum, the comedian says it’s been a pleasure working together.

“It’s absolutely amazing working with Lilian, and I’m learning a lot too. The relationship we’ve built is like a grandmother and a grandson, and also best friends, it’s absolutely beautiful,” says -he.

The two are known to laugh at strangers and they say it won’t be any different on the show. “It’s laughter and a touch of seriousness,” said veteran actress Lilian.

“Moshe is a cook in his own right and so like me we both enjoy the same food and that makes judgment very easy. It doesn’t have to be the way we do it, as long as it’s good food.”

One of his favorite things on the show is meeting the families.

“I love going into people’s homes, interacting with them, getting to know them and seeing what their plates look like. Food is about people and families, and conversations are great too,” she says.

She also tells Drum that she likes to tell true stories. “On the show, I don’t try to be somebody, which I usually do, I’m real.”

It’s Valentine’s Day on Monday and Mam’Lilian says there’s no dish that says I love you more than it loves itself.

“Do you think it’s about food or love? If someone loves you, you can eat samp and beans and you’ll be happy. As long as you’re together.”

“I was young and love is one of my favorite things. When you love someone, you see nothing wrong, everything is beautiful about them, it’s not about money, beauty, but because it resonates with your soul,” she says.

7 colors will air on February 17, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. on HoneyTV (DStv 173 and GOtv SUPA).
