Lebanon region fair moves talent show to Monday night


Long-time devotees will know that the popular Talent Show competition is usually held on Friday nights in the clubhouse, one-on-one with the Tough Trucks event on the track and the 4-H and FFA cattle sale in the lobby. north.

This backlog of schedules made it difficult for the Fair’s young livestock exhibitors to enter the competition where serious bonuses are at stake – a $5 entry fee can turn into $75 for first place in each category of competition. ‘age ! To accommodate these exhibitors, the fair’s animation committee moved the contest to Monday evening.

“We have some really talented kids in our breeding program who wanted to participate in the Talent Show but just couldn’t make it work between selling their breeding projects on Friday night,” said Russ Wolfe, Co-Chair of the entertainment committee. “It wasn’t fair for these kids to have to choose between completing your lamb, steer or pig project and showing off your talent. We have listened to their request and hope that they will be able to participate this year.

The Talent Show has been the testing ground for several local musicians. The main stage performer, the Jess Zimmerman Band, is led by Jessica Zimmerman, who won the fair’s talent show years before making her stage debut. The band now performs on the East Coast, including Florida, South Carolina, New Jersey, and numerous stops across Pennsylvania.

After winning their respective divisions at the Fair Talent Show, performers Crystal Bomgardner and Addie Grace will make their official debuts at Fair on the Pavilion this year.

The Talent Show includes vocal and non-vocal categories in three age brackets: youth 12 and under, youth 13-19, and adults. Prior registration is mandatory and a registration form is available on the Show’s website.

Talent Show Rules

  1. This competition is open to all amateurs from the greater region of Lebanon.
  2. Competitors will present a 3-5 minute performance showcasing their talent.
  3. Candidates must provide their own CD of the song or music to be performed, if applicable. All types of music will be acceptable with the following restrictions: All music and lyrics to be used are at the discretion of the Contest Committee and judges. No profanity or inappropriate action or dress will be allowed. If the acts are deemed inappropriate, the execution will be halted.
  4. Competitors can only register for one class. (Vocal or non-vocal, cannot enter both.)
  5. Judging criteria will be based on the talent chosen and may include: musical ability, choreography, costumes, originality and creativity, stage presentation, efficiency and overall presentation. The judges’ decision is final.
  6. A $5.00 registration fee must be submitted with the application. Entries will be accepted until the age groups are filled. Entry forms available at the Fair Office or at www.lebanonareafair.com.
  7. The Talent Show is Monday, July 25. Report at 6:00 p.m. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
  8. The talent competition will start with the youngest groups and will be run by age. The rewards will bear the name of each group.

    2nd place – $50.00
    3rd place – $25.00
