New ITV talent show Starstruck starts on Saturday: Here’s everything you need to know


A brand new show about blurring the lines between identity theft and reality is coming to our TV screens this Saturday night – and superstar Olly Murs will host the show.

The talent show will run for six weeks and will see a whole host of individuals transformed into their beloved music star for one night only.

Starstruck has been compared to the iconic 90s TV show “Stars in Their Eyes,” where people took to the stage covered in smoke and impersonated their pop idols.

This new show, however, means contestants will be joined by two other performers, all dressed up and singing songs by the same musical artist.

Here’s everything you need to know about the show’s debut, who will be on the judging panel, and which celebrities the audience will impersonate.

When does the show start?

Starstruck begins Saturday February 12 at 8:30 p.m. on ITV and ITV Hub and will run for six weeks in total.

The first 70-minute episode will see four teams of three artists take the stage.

What will the first episode contain?

One group will perform as Ariana Grande, another as Lady Gaga, a third will take on Motown as Marvin Gaye and three artists will channel their inner rock star as they all take the stage as Freddie Mercury.

How does the show work?

In each show, four three-member teams will take the stage to perform a hit song by their musical idol, with each person on the team singing a section of the song.

There are similarities to the classic talent show Stars in Their Eyes – which first aired in 1990 before the final episode aired in 2006 – but with Starstruck, contestants will compete in groups, all three dressed in different looks to their favorite music. artist.

They will have to impress the Starstruck judges to then be chosen as the strongest team.

The strongest team will then face off and the audience will get the final vote on who their favorite solo singer is.

They will then proceed to the live final at the end of the series to compete for the £50,000 cash prize.

Who are the Starstruck judges?

Adam Lambert – Vocalist and New Queen Frontman

Queen singer Adam Lambert will take a place on the Starstruck jury. Asked about his famous look-alike, Adam replied: “I’ve been told that in some ways I look like Elvis.

“I always take that as a great compliment. I’d try that. I think I could probably pull this off. I see myself wearing one of those jumpsuits with all the rhinestones all over it. It’s a vibe.”

Sheridan Smith – Actress and musical theater star

Actress Sheridan Smith will join Adam on the panel of esteemed judges this year. Sheridan revealed that she would choose to transform into Dolly Parton “without a shadow of a doubt”, saying, “I’m obsessed with her.

“My mum and dad were a country and western duo, so I grew up on country music. A pair of fake boobs and a big blonde wig. I should practice vocals but he’s my idol, so it’s with her that I would like to be.”

Comedian Jason is the third judge to be named to the Starstruck program.

And finally, recording star Beverley takes the final seat on the panel. Beverley said her music icon would be Prince, she said: “All day! I would lose some of that hair or braid it all and put on a wig. I would love to turn into Prince.

Former X Factor contestant, The Voice singer and trainer Olly Murs will take the stage to host ITV’s new talent show.

Olly added: “It’s amazing – I love it. I’ve always wanted to do something new and find something that matches my personality, something where I can be me and be cheeky.

“I think that’s where Starstruck ticks all the boxes. It was a perfect match in terms of what I wanted to do. It’s just a fun show to be on and everyone is great to work with. “
