It was tough preparing for the TV show last year, said Dean Rainey, executive producer and director.

This year, he said they can move forward based on the experiences of last year.

“We have already done this.”

Created from a partnership with Eastlink Community TV and Rainey Media, the show highlights candidates from local communities who audition to compete for a grand prize of $ 1,000.

Filming for the third season took place August 12-13 in downtown Simcoe. The show will also be filming in Sudbury on August 21.

“We have a lot of singer-songwriters,” Rainey said. “It’s not just about singing and doing covers; you have to write your own material.

“It makes him interesting because when you see someone and their singing is good and their song is good, it makes them quite special.”

The team will film five episodes and a season finale, where the top performer from each episode will compete for $ 1,000.

There will be 30 acts in total.

Competitors include local bands, musicians and comedians.

“I am very excited to be here. I think whenever you have the chance to stand up and sing, play, compete, you should. It’s always my goal for my whole life to perform, ”said Meredith Wood, a Norfolk resident, a singer-songwriter on the show.

Rainey said the crew were happy to meet again at a larger-scale event.

He said they will change part of the show’s format for next year.

“We’ll see if we can continue to have more artists, unfortunately these are smaller towns and there seems to be a limited number of people who can attend the show,” Rainey said.

“The plan is to do something next year, maybe it’s time to make a little adjustment and keep it interesting for everyone, but we really want to get back on the road.”

This year’s Tailgate Talent Show will air on Eastlink Community TV in January.
