Despite the Kardashians’ return to TV screens, new research has revealed that MasterChef is the most popular reality show in the world, with 2.4 million average monthly searches for the show.

A study of Casino Guide analyzed web searches for current reality TV shows by month, with MasterChef, Love Island and The Voice topping the top three.

First up reality TV show MasterChef first hit UK TV screens in 1990 and has gone on to become one of the biggest TV shows in the world, fitting over 40 different countries, including Australia, the United States, Brazil and China.

Various spin-off versions of the show have also been introduced over the past few years, such as MasterChef: The Professionals, Celebrity MasterChef, and Junior MasterChef.

Runner-up Love Island first aired in the UK for two series in 2005 and then returned to ITV2 in 2015. Love Island also launched in 13 different countries including the US and Australia becoming the second most popular reality show. post globally and earn 1,980,000 web searches on average per month.

The Voice ranks third, with an average of 1,110,000 monthly web searches. The Voice is an international reality TV singing competition, starting with “The Voice of Holland” in the Netherlands, then adapting across the world to the UK, US, China and 142 other countries/regions and versions, including as ‘The Voice Kids’, ‘The Voice Teens’ and The Voice Senior’.

The fourth and fifth most popular reality shows are also singing reality shows, “The Masked Singer” and “American Idol”.

“The Masked Singer,” originated from the South Korean version of the show, “The King of Mask Singer,” and generates a monthly average of 1,110,000 web searches. The musical show, featuring anonymous celebrities dressed in full costumes, has aired in the US (2019) and UK (2020) in recent years, with the show airing in a total of 31 countries.

American singing competition, “American Idol” generates 734,000 web searches on average per month and has been one of the top American musical reality shows since its launch in 2002, later becoming the most-watched American television show in 2004 .

“The Bachelorette” ranks as the sixth most popular reality TV show in the world. Airing in 2003, the American dating game show is a spin-off of “The Bachelor”, earning 711,000 average monthly web searches.

The dating TV series “Too Hot to Handle” hit the screens in 2020 after it was released on Netflix. The show averages 595,000 web searches per month, making it the seventh most searched reality TV show in the world.

Strictly Come Dancing is eighth, with 578,000 monthly searches, and Married at First Sight is ninth, with 499,000 monthly searches.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians, an American reality TV show based on the life of the famous Kardashian-Jenner family, has 447,000 monthly web searches, and last in the top 10. After premiering on E! in 2007, the family announced in 2020 that the show would end in 2021.

However, KUWTK fans were recently informed that the Kardashian family is set to return to TV screens sooner than expected, with new show “The Kardashians” set to debut in 2022, after the family signed a major multi-year contract with Hulu.
