The Voice UK announce major change to ITV talent show

The Voice UK has announced a major change ahead of its return to our screens on Saturday evening.

The popular talent show is set to bring back the programme’s famous judges, including Anne-Marie, Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones and, as well as the iconic swinging red chairs.

The ITV competition also shook things up ahead of its 11th round by swapping its virtual audience for studio viewers for the first time since 2019.

The excitement doesn’t stop there either with the introduction of a brand new reminder lifeline feature.

Here’s everything we know about the singing competition’s return, from how to watch to the series’ exciting new element.

When does The Voice UK 2022 start?

Fans began speculating about the talent show’s return after the program revealed it was holding auditions for the next series in June.

The series returns on Saturday September 3 and viewers will be able to tune in on ITV.

Early episodes will see the musical mentors on their legendary spinning chairs as they select promising talent for their teams.

The show starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday and lasts 1 hour 30 minutes.

Viewers will also be able to catch up on any episodes they miss via the ITV hub.

The Voice brings the audience back from the live studio

Speaking to PA’s Gemma Dunn, singer Olly Murs said: “I enjoyed last year but it was nowhere near as good as this year, just having a returning crowd.”

“There are only so many Zoom calls, virtual things you can do, so it’s so nice to have people in a room smiling and having fun. It was so normal “It was fun again. It was alive. And it felt like the show had picked up the missing piece. This year, we’re back in full force!” Murs, 38, who joined the jury in 2018 , added.

Showbiz veteran Tom Jones, 82, agreed, adding, “There’s a spark there.”

Only making her debut last year, Anne Marie added: “Well, I’ve never experienced that, so that’s a first for me.”

“It’s great to have a live audience. Even though it’s a bit loud… so I try to hear the singers and get through the cheering and shouting, but it’s so nice.

The Voice UK introduces new callback feature ahead of new series

The Voice is known and loved for its recognizable format, from its dramatic blind auditions to its controversial “block” button.

The new series will also include popular battle rounds, knockouts as well as live performances.

This year there will also be a new addition to the series titled “the reminders”.

The new element will see hopeful contestants who passed the blind auditions compete to earn their place in the semi-finals.

As in previous years, the end goal of the series is to be crowned the winner and secure a life-changing record deal with Universal’s UMOD label.

Who won The Voice UK 2021?

Chart-topping pop star Anne Marie debuted on the iconic panel in 2021 and framed last year’s winning act.

Scottish performer Craig Eddie, 24, won the show’s tenth series.

Eddie released his first song Come Waste My Time last year and has since released more music, including his first independent track Strive.

The Voice UK returns Saturday September 3 at 8pm on ITV.
