TruTV is getting into the cooking show game.
Cable network WarnerMedia has given the green light to a show called fast foodfeaturing Excellent chef winners Kristen Kish and Jeremy Ford and iron boss champion Justin Sutherland. In each episode, a celebrity guest will bring their favorite fast food dish – from burgers to Hawaiian pizza to sausage muffins – and the three chefs will compete to recreate and then reinvent the dish.
Celebrity guest stars for the 10-episode season include Joel McHale, James Van Der Beek, Andy Richter, Amanda Seales, Ron Funches, Charlotte McKinney, Kevin Hefferman and Steve Lemme (TruTV’s Tacoma DF)Fortune Feimster, GaTa and Bobby Lee.
“This show is equal parts food, comedy and rowdy bawdy,” said Corie Henson, executive vice president and head of unscripted programming for TBS, TNT and TruTV. “The stakes have never been lower, but it’s a pleasure to spend the night with Kristen, Jeremy and Justin, and you’ll never look at your favorite fast food restaurant the same way again after seeing the works of art created by these three culinary geniuses every week.”
fast food is the second unscripted series TruTV has ordered in as many days. On Tuesday, the wireman commissioned a street magic show called Big Energy Towerfeaturing magicians/daredevils Chris Ramsay, Eric Leclerc, Wes Barker and Alex Boyer.
Shed Media, a division of Warner Bros. Unscripted and Alternative Television, produces the series. The company’s executive producers Dan Peirson and Lisa Shannon with showrunner Michael Rucker (Excellent chefby Netflix Cooked with cannabis) and Julie Golden.
